My name is Amy and I live in Sacramento with my two pups that mean the world to me. I was adopted when I was very young and I’ve lived in California my entire life. I absolutely love to travel, I’m an amateur photographer, I’m a huge dog (and animal) lover, I’m very active, I have participated in the AIDS ride in CA and have ridden from SF to LA twice, I’ve participated in triathlons as well, but mostly I’m a runner and have been since 6th grade.
This year is my 10th year running marathons and I’ve completed 26 so far with 27 coming up in Dec.
I’ve also run the Boston Marathon two times, which has been so incredible and magical each time. I run marathons all over the world because I wanted to put my two passions of travel and running together and this allowed me to do both at the same time.
I have a blog: www.runningtoseetheworld.com where you can read about my running travels.
I also coach running groups and most recently have finished my second coaching season with Team in Training, which is part of Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Recently I decided to raise money for the LLS organization and I climbed Mt Kilimanjaro, which was the most amazing experience ever! And because of this awesome trip, I signed up to climb to Everest Base Camp in April ’18.
Aside from my activities, I currently work for KIND Healthy Snacks which is the best company to work for, Good Culture cottage cheese, and I’m a dog walker as well. I have a flexible schedule so it allows me to tend to one of my dogs that has a medical condition called megaesophagus.
I have worked in sales/marketing for many years and it’s something that comes easy to me.
But I quit my “corporate” job in 2008 to start a business and I’ve never gone back to an 8-5, M-F job again. I make a fraction of what I made before but I’m so much happier doing things I love and that I’m passionate about. It also allows me to travel whenever I want.
I’ve had a lot of challenges growing up and have lost a lot of family members due to cancers and illnesses. I’ve been through a cancer journey with my ex boyfriend and even started a beer fest event to raise money and bring about awareness for that particular cancer. The last almost two years have been very rough for me as I was in an emotional, verbal and mentally abusive relationship with the ex boyfriend I just mentioned.
I just recently earlier this year got out of that after 8 years and it’s been very difficult at times healing and recovering from the psychological damage that was done.
I discovered my ex has multiple personality disorders and it was quite a shock to understand what was really going on. I have been very open about what happened after doing so much research and reading about how common this is but it doesn’t get talked about. I am trying to bring awareness to these particular dangerous and damaging personality disorders and what they can do to a relationship. I am also currently working with a writer to complete a memoir about my experience to help others.
I’m a hard worker, persistent, determined and loyal. I love trying new things and being out in the world and going on adventures whenever I can. It makes me incredibly happy to meet new people from all over the world and seeing other cultures. I also love volunteering whenever I can.
When I saw the LIVE sticker in San Diego in Aug of 2015, I was on a weekend getaway with my ex boyfriend. I was very curious what the sticker was and googled the message the next day while lying on the beach. I instantly was hooked and bought stickers almost right away.
The phrase “Live A Great Story” is everything I want my life to be about and I want to inspire others to do the same. This sticker came into my life at a very good time… At a time when I needed it. I bring stickers with me on all my adventures. I love passing them out or taking pics with them.
It’s a reminder of just life in general and what it should be about. If I die tomorrow, I will die doing something I love and know that I did so many things to inspire others. Persevere and keep moving forward. Life is difficult these days and we can’t let that stop us from doing so many things we love and enjoy. Being compassionate, loving, friendly, grateful and happy inspires others to do the same. So I just keep moving forward, despite the obstacles. I’m so excited to be apart of the LIVE Ambassador community!
