9 Tips for Starting 2019 Aligned

New Years is a great time to reflect, look forward and set a direction. Hopefully you’re excited to start fresh with a full calendar year of opportunity!

Here’s 10 Tips to help you get centered to start 2019 feeling confident and aligned with your story.

1. Choose 1 Task to Cross Off Before NYE

Just one! What’s a simple to-do that you’ve been putting off that you can cross off before NYE that will give you some momentum to start the new year? Do it! Focus on that one thing and make it happen.

2. Call someone you care about

You probably texted “Merry Christmas” to your friends, many of whom you haven’t talked to in a while. Set some time aside to follow up with a phone call. Surprise a friend or family member with a call to chat about what happened in 2018 and what's coming in 2019.

    3. Consider January Unplugged

Social media can be overwhelming, especially during the holidays, so take some time to unplug starting the new year. We aren’t suggesting anything revolutionary, just a short detox to start your year more intentionally. You’ve probably seen other people do it. Now, it’s your turn.

      4. Don’t Think Past January

On January 31st, what actions or habits would make you feel like January was a success? Focus on those. Thinking too far into the future can be overwhelming so keep your focus nearsighted.

        5. Set Your Course, Not Your Milestones

Setting hard and strict number goals can be helpful in staying consistent but what happens when you fall off? If you're on a roll and then something happens and you get behind, it can be super hard to get back on track.

So instead of saying, "I'm going to the gym 5x a week" try saying "I want to live a healthier life so I'm focusing on going to the gym more often." Start small and ease into your path so you can sustain the momentum.

        6. Find a Running Partner

A running partner holds you accountable to the commitments you make to yourself. Grab someone you trust and commit to making sure you both are doing what you say you need to.

          7. Make a 2019 Life List

Bucket Lists are too far out! Dying is a long way off. Life Lists are more immediate and include the smaller things that matter in the day to day.

            8. Drop One, Add One

Stopping a habit for the sake of stopping a habit can be difficult. What happens when you all of a sudden don’t scroll social media anymore, what will you do with that extra time? Find something productive and positive to replace a negative habit.

              9. Get Freaking Excited

It’s the new freaking year!! There’s so much to do, so much opportunity, so much ahead. Dream big, think huge and get stoked for everything coming in 2019!
